Another month has flown by and another of my smories has been selected for their competition!
To see "Sister for sale", a poem very close to my heart, go to http://www.smories.com/watch/sister-for-sale/
Being the youngest of four girls, I would have sold every one of my sisters for the same reason as the girl in my poem but you'll have to watch it to find out what it is.
This poem written for and recited by my youngest daughter at the local eisteddfod and she won first place. I was so proud. She also won first place with "Help, my bum..." and my oldest daught received an honourable mention with "This means war," a poem about our dog and cat's incessant fighting which will be added to my website shortly. Another young girl, Denae, won first place with my poem, "Nature." Well done girls!
This month also saw the confirmation of my mentorship through the NSW writers centre. I am hoping this experience will be worth the wait, but I will keep you posted. I am very thankful to David Ryding for his patience and commitment to providing a quality service for new and existing authors. I can't wait!
Finally, September is the first month of spring, the month of my birthday, and perhaps a good month for starting a new writing project in a new genre. I feel a historical masterpiece coming on...!

This much fun must be a crime!

After escaping from the clutches of my evil kitty, I managed to attend a workshop today with Felicity Pulman, yes boys and girls, THE Felicity Pulman of the Janna Mysteries and Shalott series Fame, (amongst other titles.)
During the workshop I also got to sit next to Jane Carroll! (Author of Front Runner and a swagful of other books!) What a humbling experience to be in the presence of two such knowledgeable women.
This workshop was skilfully integrated with a young adult’s session. It was great to have these wonderful young people's feedback, what a pleasure to be able to share this experience with some truly great young minds.
I learnt so much today about the art of crafting an intriguing crime story and the night was completed with a murder mystery party in fabulous 1920’s gangster style, (hence the fancy dress.)
I was so pleasantly surprised at what a fabulous experience the whole day has been and I will never doubt the opportunities available to regional writer’s ever again!
I am so grateful to Felicity for making the effort to travel all the way to Broken Hill and to Marvis from the Library for making the whole thing happen. What inspirational ladies. Thank you both so much!

Smories - What Would You Do?
It's here, it's here it's here! My first ever Smory!
I am so excited I think I just peed a little!
It's not exactly published in the traditional sense but it's out there for kids to enjoy and that is all that matters to me.
Every time someone views it I get closer to winning so tell your family to watch it, tell your friends to watch it, even tell you're enemies to watch it. Every vote counts!
This young girl does and absolutely fantastic job reading my smory aloud. What a little legend!
I would really like to thank the little sweety, wherever she is, for doing such a great job.
She obviously enjoyed reading it and I hope hundreds more kids enjoy watching it!
Feel free to watch my smory as many times as you like and let me know what you think.
skisses,
Kellie Coff
